Where you choose to stay for your vacation can be a challenge. Chat with us or call to talk about the various areas. Budgets, accommodations, everything seems to vary BUT there is an option if you are ready to find it.
For many people, the location of your lodging will depend on where you have stayed in Vail the last time you visited. Maybe stay in the same place – perhaps try another location. We talk about Vail in several ‘areas’ – Vail Village, Lionshead, Golden Peak (East) and ‘other’ areas (the Golf Course area, West Vail, north of i70).
Depending on what is important to you, we’ll help you find something great – that’s what we like to do. Are you wanting a vacation for the guys? Is this for you and your spouse? Is it a family holiday that needs to be special? Are you travelling with small children that don’t want to walk a really long distance in the cold?
Vail wasn’t really designed with very easy access to the slopes – instantly. If you haven’t been to Vail before, you’ll see that the area is setup for pedestrians rather than drivign areas where you can be dropped off at the ski area entrance. With that, most areas will require that you walk to the ski lift areas (unless you’re lodging in a ski-in and ski-out property), it’s important to think about where your accommodations are located. The ease with which you can get yourself on the mountain and how far you’ll need to walk carrying your ski boots and/or skis.
I never liked walking long distances wearing my ski boots – my snowboard boots were comfortable, so it’s didn’t matter so much. With the rental price of condominiums and apartments, we got used to walking to the slopes pretty quickly!
Personally, it’s going to be easiest and most enjoyable to ensure you rent your skis (if you’re renting — and most do these days) from a vendor that allows you to store your skis at the end of the day. That way, you’re not lugging skis and boots around and, importantly, your skis are dried at night (getting rid of the pesky moisture that causes your feet to get cold).
This should get you started. Now let’s talk about what you’re wanting and we’ll figure out where you want to be in Vail to have the best vacation possible.
